Traveling To The Beach In Destin, Florida This Summer And Wondering If You Can See The Blue Angels Practice Air Shows From Here?

I’ve spent a good amount of time in both Destin and Pensacola, and one of my favorite things to do in this Florida Panhandle area (besides the beach) is to watch the Blue Angels practice air shows during the summer, but after a few “misunderstandings”, I now know that there are very specific places you have to go to be able to see the shows.

✈️ Can You See The Blue Angels From Destin Beach?

It's not close enough to see the planes passing by.

Unfortunately, you can not see the Blue Angels practice air shows from the beach in Destin or anywhere else in town, although you might hear them since the sound travels further.

Pensacola is the home of the Blue Angels and it’s under 50 miles from Destin, but you can’t even see the free practice air shows from the beach in Pensacola (except for the end of season show they do on the beach there).

The Lie My Airbnb Told About Seeing Them

You can't even see them from a lot of places in Pensacola.

Even in Pensacola, beware of anyone (particularly airbnbs) claiming you can see the Blue Angels practice shows from their property.

My first ever visit to Pensacola included one of these (mostly) lying airbnbs that said you could watch the show from their balcony. Those four tiny little specs in the middle of the red circle were the Blue Angel planes, so technically I guess you could “see” them, but not well enough to follow them and watch the show.

My airbnb was only about 17 miles (even less as the “plane” flies) from where the planes perform the show (I was staying on Pensacola Beach), but even from that close I couldn’t see them.

📍 Where Can You See The Blue Angels Practice Shows?

the number one spot to watch the Blue Angels practice with the closest view is at the National Naval Aviation Museum on the Naval base

the second best place is at the very tip of Fort Pickens National Park

you could also rent a boat and watch the show from the water in Pensacola Bay

the Perdido Key area also stretches out almost to where Fort Pickens is so you could get some good views here, but driving access only goes so far on this strip of land

🔁 Sum Up: Can You See The Blue Angels From Destin Beach?

Although you can not see the Blue Angels practice shows from the beach in Destin, or even the beach in Pensacola (except for the end of season Pensacola beach show), Pensacola is not that far from Destin so it would be easy to take a day trip over and watch the free air show from the Naval base and then check out the really cool Naval Aviation Museum that’s on base too.
