Traveling To Dallas, Texas And Planning A Day Over At The Fort Worth Stockyards But Wondering What’s The Best Way To Get There?

I lived in the Dallas, Texas area for a few years and I used to love going over to Fort Worth to visit the Stockyards and see some bull riding or go to a rodeo, but although the Dallas-Fort Worth area is very large with a lot of people and a lot of traffic, it’s pretty simple and easy to get there from anywhere in the Dallas area, it just depends on how quick you want to get there or how much you want to spend.

๐Ÿ‚ How To Get From Dallas, Texas To The Fort Worth Stockyards

If you have to choose between one or the other for a visit to North Texas, I think Fort Worth is better than Dallas for the cowboy culture.

Fort Worth and Dallas are basically one large city now since they’ve pretty much merged together, but from the center of one to the other, it takes about 40-45 minutes depending on traffic.

If you’re staying in the downtown Dallas area and want to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards for the day (which I think is the main reason Fort Worth is worth visiting), there are few different ways you can get there depending on how much you want to spend, how quickly you want to get there, or whether or not you’re visiting with a car.

The Quick Way

It's pretty easy to get from Dallas, Texas to the Fort Worth Stockyards.
  • Uber – Uber, Lyft, and even the fancier Alto ride-shares are all readily available in the Dallas area so you could easily get to the Stockyards using one of these services, but prices can get pretty high (for a one way trip between the two cities, it could cost anywhere from $50-75)

The Convenient Way

Fort Worth is typically cheaper and they even have quite a few free activities at the Stockyards.

If your trip to Dallas does not include a car, or even if it does, one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get to the Stockyards to not have to worry about driving, directions, or parking, is to go on one of the many available guided tours:

๐Ÿš‚ A Unique Way To Get To The Stockyards

Grapevine is located a little northwest of Dallas, but there is a cool train you can take here.

Outside of staying in the downtown Dallas area, there is another interesting and unique way to get to the Fort Worth Stockyards from the Grapevine area (a part of town that is particularly famous during the Christmas season).

From Grapevine, you can get to the Fort Worth Stockyards riding a vintage train (pictured above). The Grapevine train isn’t always the cheapest (between $22 and $72), but it’s a pretty cool way to get to the Fort Worth Stockyards.

๐Ÿ” Sum Up: Dallas To The Fort Worth Stockyards

Although the centers of Dallas and Fort Worth are almost an hour apart (depending on traffic), whether you’re visiting with or without a car, it’s pretty easy and simple to get to the Stockyards since there are so many guided tours available. It’s also pretty easy to reach on your own, but driving in Dallas can be a little scary so I don’t always recommend this option.
