When I was living in South Florida, I spent so much time outdoors and in the water, and one of my favorite experiences was going on a sailing adventure with Salty Miami. Because it was on the more expensive side, I did a lot of research before finally deciding to go with Salty Miami, so below I’ve laid out some of the info I found as well as my own personal experience to help you decide if it’s worth it for you.

I had a great time on my sailing trip with Salty Miami, and it’s definitely something I recommend for anyone that loves being outdoors and on the water.
Sailing Adventure
The best thing about this tour is the sailing adventure itself. I love being on the water, so I’m happy anyway I can get out there.
Their catamaran also has a trapeze contraption that lets you hang off the side of the boat while sailing. This was one of my favorite parts because it was so fun and calming to feel the wind and water spray from the ocean.
The whole idea of Salty Miami’s sailing tour is that it’s less of a “touristy” tour and more like sailing with a friend, which I can say from experience is exactly how it feels.
Privacy
Unlike most tours in Miami that try to pile on as many people as possible, Salty Miami’s tour is very small and private or semi-private.
I only had one family member joining me on my sailing tour, so we were paired with two others for the tour, making it just the four of us and the guide. Their boats fit 10 people so it’s pretty small even at full capacity.
Eco-Friendly
One of my favorite things about the Salty Miami sailing tour is that it’s one of the very few eco-friendly options in the Miami area. It’s obvious that the guides and the company as a whole, actually care about what they do and are concerned with taking care of nature.
Scenery
Although the sailing tour stays within the bay (Biscayne Bay), there is fantastic scenery all over. While sailing on the water or when stopping to do a little snorkeling you can spot lots of marinelife like dolphins, manatees, birds, starfish, sharks, and fish (I didn’t see any on my tour 😢).
There are also great views of the Miami skyline to the north, and views of natural areas on Key Biscayne to the east.

❌ Cons Of The Salty Miami Sailing Adventure
I think going on a sailing trip with Salty Miami is one of the best ways to get out on the water in South Florida, but there are a few things to consider before booking your trip:
- Cost: the cost of a sailing tour with Salty Miami is a bit more than most boat activities in Miami, but lots of those other tours have some pretty bad ratings and seem to be just in it for making as much money as possible
- Time: Salty Miami’s sailing tour is pretty equivalent to most other boating tours in terms of the length of the tour (it’s about 3-4 hours), but being someone who loves being in and on the water, I wish the tour was longer
- Location: this tour does remain in the bay so it doesn’t go out on open water, which might be slightly disappointing to some
*️⃣ Tip: although they can be a bit touristy, when visiting Miami, don’t miss out on seeing the Everglades and riding an airboat through them trying to spot alligators or other Florida wildlife
