Poppos Taqueria Review (My Thoughts On This Organic Restaurant)
In The Central-West Florida Area And Looking For A Good Place To Eat, But Want A More Detailed Review On Poppos Taqueria?
Since I moved to the central Florida area I’ve been able to explore more of this region, and one of my trips took me to Anna Maria Island on the west coast where I ate for the first time at Poppos Taqueria and I loved it so much that I’ve returned multiple times just to eat here.
🌯 My Review Of Poppos Taqueria

Much of the Central Florida area, especially the Orlando and Cocoa Beach areas, are greatly lacking in any clean, healthy, or organic food. There is not a single place I can eat at in those two towns so I have to travel south or over to the west coast to get something organic and delicious.
True Food Kitchen is always one of my favorite healthier restaurant options, but I’m so happy that I found Poppos Taqueria for a number of reasons:
The Food

Whenever I’m asked what my favorite food is, I rotate between a few different cuisines, but Mexican food is always one of those options.
I love a good California Mexican food type restaurant and that’s exactly what Poppos feels like to me with delicious options like quesadillas, burritos, tacos, and bowls.
My favorite order is a carnitas burrito with white rice, cheese, cilantro, and the chili-aioli sauce on the side, plus an order of chips, salsa, and guac.
The Quality

Although I love Mexican food, I don’t get to eat it often unless I make it at home, which is why it’s so exciting for me to find an organic, clean meal that I don’t have to make myself.
From Poppos Itself, Their Philosophy Is:
- all about good food and good health
- clean, nutrient dense, unprocessed ingredients
- preparing it by hand
- using antibiotic/hormone free meat
- always organic first sourcing
- being seed oil free
- never using high fructose corn syrup or RBST
- using the Environmental Working Group’s “Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen” list
- and displaying all of their ingredients for a transparent experience
I love being able to eat out without getting sick or being worried about the poor ingredients that are used in most restaurants, so Poppos Taqueria is a huge treat for me.
The Service

Poppos Taqueria is a counter service kind of restaurant (like Chipotle) where you wait in line, order at the counter, and follow along telling them exactly what you want added into your meal.
There isn’t too much interaction with the staff other than that, but they’ve all been pretty nice the multiple times and locations I’ve visited.

The Atmosphere/Location

For some reason, I think because of the lunch they served at a surf camp I did one summer as a teenager, burritos are the best post-beach food for me, so it’s amazing to be able to once again eat something like this after a day at the beach.
My favorite Poppos Taqueria location is out on Anna Maria Island (one of the best beaches near the Tampa area), and although the restaurant itself isn’t anything too special (a little beachy-feel), spending the day at the beach, eating here, and then going back to watch the sunset is the perfect atmosphere in my opinion.
❌ Poppos Taqueria Downsides

My only complaint about Poppos Taqueria is that the meat isn’t the best flavored meat I’ve ever had. I usually get the carnitas because it’s the most mild flavored option, but I’ve tried both the steak and the chicken and unfortunately I’m not in love with either of them.
Other than that, I love Poppos, especially love the burritos, and love the clean ingredients, I just wish they had more locations around Florida so I could eat it more often!
🔁 Sum Up: Poppos Taqueria
Central Florida doesn’t have many clean and organic restaurant options around, and often any healthier places will also be vegan or vegetarian, so I was absolutely thrilled when I found Poppos Taqueria and could once again eat delicious, clean, and organic Mexican food, especially the burritos, chips, and salsa, plus it’s amazing that Poppos isn’t much more expensive than a place like Chipotle, considering the much higher quality ingredients they use here.
