How To Get To The Arch Of Cabo San Lucas (The Cheap & The Convenient Way)
Trying To Figure Out The Different Ways You Can See Or Get To The Arch In Cabo San Lucas, Mexico?
I’ve been to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico a couple of times and although it’s one of the more touristy things to do here, seeing the arch is a must add to your itinerary at least once, but there are a few different ways you can go about doing this.
🛳 How To Get To The Arch Of Cabo San Lucas
To get out to the arch on water, you do have to take a boat of some sort from the Cabo San Lucas marina, but there are a few different ways you can do this:
On A Guided Tour (the convenient way)
There are three different options for seeing the arch in Cabo San Lucas on a guided tour and this is definitely the easiest and most convenient way to get out there, especially if you don’t speak Spanish:
- Day Of Water Taxi To The Cabo Arch – one of the more expensive ways to see the arch would be to show up at the marina day of and speak English; they will typically way overcharge if they can get away with it, but depending on the time of year, you might be able to get them to take you out on a shared boat for $10-15 each (though they’ll probably start the price at 20-25)
- Pre-booked Water Taxi To The Cabo Arch – pre-booking your water taxi to the Cabo arch is the better way to go to avoid the stress of bartering; you can find some pretty cheap options but they’re not always the highest rated
- Other Cabo Boat Tours – one of the best ways to get to the arch and see more of the Cabo San Lucas area is to go on a multi-destination/activity tour; all Cabo San Lucas water tours leave out of the marina so they have to pass by the arch whether they’re going Whale Watching, Snorkeling, or whatever
➡️ While the arch is a must-see in Cabo San Lucas, some other adventurous activities I highly recommend here are surfing, horseback riding, and hiking
On Your Own (the cheap way)
Although taking a fully guided tour is one of the easiest ways to see the arch in Cabo San Lucas, if you speak Spanish, the cheapest way to get out there is showing up to the marina and bartering with the individual boats.
I did some research beforehand to find out what one of these water taxis/arch boat tours should cost, and I used this info to get one of the boats to take my whole group out on a private tour for 500 pesos (about $30 US) total.
Technically these water taxi prices in Cabo San Lucas should be anywhere from 500-700 pesos for the entire boat (it could depend on the season and the demand), but they obviously do not advertise those prices to foreigners.
➡️ Although plenty of people speak English in Cabo, getting better prices is one of the advantages to speaking Spanish
⛰ Can You See The Cabo Arch From Land?
You can’t really see the arch from land in Cabo (Medano Beach probably has the best view but it’s a little far), so a boat tour/water taxi is required to get a good look, but there is a very unique viewpoint of the arch/Sea of Cortez/Pacific Ocean that I highly recommend checking out if you love hiking.
What’s known as “The Dog Hike” in Cabo is a hike on private land that you can only do with this guy Enrique, and it’s a bit steep and strenuous at points, but it gives you wonderful views at the top (pictured above).

Although seeing the Arch in Cabo San Lucas is a pretty touristy thing to do, it’s a must-see at least once when visiting this part of Mexico, but there are a few different ways you can get out there depending on whether you want the cheapest, the easiest, or the best combo type of tour. I recommend getting a cheap boat out there if you speak Spanish, or going on a Whale Watching or Snorkeling type of tour that will include a stop at the arch.
