When was living in Colombia and teaching English, I was really immersed in the Colombian culture and I got to see just how important coffee really is here, and although I still do not like coffee (everyone here thought I was crazy 🤪), I really enjoyed learning more about the cultivation, production, and consumption of this drink, so I think going on a coffee tour is a must here in Colombia.

The Coffee Region of Colombia is a beautiful part of the country.

Even if you’re like me and you don’t like drinking coffee, I think going on a coffee tour and learning more about the cultivation and production of this drink is especially great for travelers to really experience more of this Colombian culture.

Coffee is grown all over Colombia so there are many places you can go on a coffee tour no matter where you visit in the country, but there is one destination that is the ultimate coffee spot so I would highly recommend this area if you’re a huge coffee lover, plus it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

The #1 Coffee Destination

Salento is a cute small town in Colombia that's worth seeing on its own, but the Cocora Valley is what really makes this area worth visiting.

In case the name doesn’t clue you in, the number one coffee destination in Colombia is actually known as The Coffee Region, which is a large section of the country, south of Medellin and west of Bogota.

This is the part of the country I lived in, and it’s also one of the most beautiful areas with lots of interesting places to visit like the Santa Rosa hot springs, the incredible Salento Cocora Valley, the small Filandia town, the Coffee Theme Park, the capital of the region, Pereira, the city of Manizales, etc.

The Coffee Region is definitely the best place to go on a coffee tour in Colombia.

Although Medellin isn't the number one place to go on a coffee tour in Colombia, there are still tour options here.

Although Medellin is not necessarily the top coffee destination in the country, coffee is no less important here than it is in the Coffee Region, so there are plenty of ways you can experience more of this coffee culture in one of the most popular cities in the country.

On top of actually going on a coffee farm tour in Medellin, Colombia, another interesting place you can visit in Medellin is Pueblito Paisa, which is a replica of a small Colombian town.

Guatape is a fun day trip from Medellin and a good way to exercise going up the 700+ stairs of the rock.

Guatape is close to Medellin, but it’s a smaller town with an interesting rock and lake landscape (I’d definitely recommend visiting at least for the day), plus a few coffee farm tour options.

While many have differing opinions, Bogota is my favorite big city in Colombia.
