Is There An Active Volcano Near The Central Mexico Town Of Puebla And Can You See It From The City?

I first visited Mexico City over a decade ago and each time I return to visit, I like to go out and explore other nearby areas like Puebla and Cholula. I was mainly interested in seeing the historic pyramid in Cholula, but I also hoped to get a look at the active volcano just outside of Puebla and Cholula, commonly known as the most dangerous volcano in Mexico.

The beautiful natural attractions around Puebla and Cholula are one reason to visit this area.

There are actually two volcanoes near Puebla, Mexico: one the active Popocatépetl volcano about 40 miles (65 km) from the city, and the dormant Iztaccihuatl volcano also about 40 miles (65 km) from the city.

Getting to see the active Popocatépetl volcano on my day trip to Puebla and Cholula from Mexico City was one of the most exciting events of the day and a reason why I think this area is worth visiting (another being the Great Pyramid).
