Trying To Figure Out Where To Visit In Colombia And Wondering How Far Villa de Leyva Is From The Capital City Of Bogota And How Hard It Is To Get There?
When I was living in Colombia to teach English, I got to travel all over the country and one of my top must-see destinations was Villa de Leyva, but because it was a little far from Bogota and there weren’t any airports to fly into, I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the extra trouble of getting to, but here’s all the info on how to get there so you can see if it’ll be worth it for you’re next trip.
🇨🇴 How Far Is Villa De Leyva From Bogota?

Bogota is the capital city of the country and it’s located up in the mountains of central Colombia.
The small Spanish colonial town of Villa de Leyva is also located in the central part of the country (more or less) and it’s about 3.5 hours (just over 100 miles) north of Bogota, which isn’t terribly far, but there isn’t an airport to fly into so getting there is slightly more complicated.

🚌 How Do You Get From Bogota To Villa De Leyva?

Because there is no airport in Villa de Leyva, nor is there an easily accessible one nearby, the only way to get to Villa de Leyva from Bogota is by land.
- since Villa de Leyva is over 3 hours away from Bogota, taking a taxi or uber is pretty much out of the question
- there are guided day trip tours available from Bogota to Villa de Leyva, but it would be a pretty long day, although that might be better than not getting to see it at all
- for a longer stay in Villa de Leyva, the best way to get there is using the public bus system; all you have to do is go to a transportation terminal in Bogota, buy a ticket for Villa de Leyva (it should be around $15 or less), and get on the bus
⛪️ Is It Worth Visiting Villa De Leyva?

I really enjoyed my time in Villa de Leyva so I definitely think it’s a must-visit destination in Colombia if you love small charming towns, colonial history, prehistoric fossils, and beautiful architecture.
Because it’s so small, I don’t think you need too many days here, but I think you can pretty easily visit it from the capital city or even continue on north to the adventurous Santander region of Colombia.
🔁 Sum Up: How Far Is Villa De Leyva From Bogota
