Planning A Trip To Cali, Colombia But Wondering Where The Safest Places To Stay Are & What The Best Five Star Hotels Are In These Areas?

When I was living in the Coffee Region of Colombia (not far from Cali), I visited this city on my own as a solo female traveler, and while it’s more of a medium size city with not a ton of five star hotels to choose from, there are still some good options in the safer areas of the city (because you don’t want to stay in the wrong parts of town in here).

The parque de Los Gatos is one of the main attractions of this city.

Cali is one of those Colombian cities that has a pretty rough past, but lots of efforts have been made over the years to clean it up and make it a safer place to visit. I traveled here alone and remained cautious and aware (like always), but never felt like I was in any danger.

Although the overall safety of Cali, Colombia has gotten better, there are still a number of areas you should avoid (more details on this in the next section), and some neighborhoods you should stick to find the nicer, five star-type hotels.

📆 How Many Days Should You Stay In Cali, Colombia?

Cali is a medium size city in Colombia so there aren't tons of five star hotels to stay at, but these are some of the best options here.

How long you should stay in Cali, Colombia depends on your interests and the amount of time you have to spend in the country. It was easy for me to travel to Cali because I lived pretty close by, but if family/friends asked me whether or not they should visit, I would typically recommend other locations instead.

👉 if you love Salsa music and dancing, you have plenty of time to really explore Colombia, and/or you’re already going to be nearby visiting other parts of Colombia (like the Coffee Region), then Cali would be worth around 1-3 days for you

👉 if you’re limited on your time in Colombia and Salsa isn’t a huge draw for you, then I recommend checking out some other amazing places in Colombia instead of visiting Cali at all (or maybe doing a day trip from the Coffee Region if you really still want to see a little of it)
